I think my designs fit the brief well for a teenage audience, I chose a literal approach by illustrating a greaser and pomade tin; I think it is important for the cover to give a flavour of the themes of the book without giving away the content of it. I used certain 50s era aesthetics including bitmap/halftone, texture and typography for the title reminiscent of old logos of the time. I referenced the colours of the penguin branding but with a bit of halftone twist. I then chose to screen print the designs as its looks more authentic.

Conclusion
I approached this brief which is aimed at teenagers in mind I wanted something that would stand out and appeal to that demographic and at the same time represent the the book. I looked at classic penguin book designs from the 50s/60s and also referenced the certain aesthetics of the 50s 'greaser' culture. Looking at music posters and retro typography from the era as well as finding contemporary illustrators/designers who are inspired by these aesthetics i.e. Timba Smits and Telegramme.
